AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees

Thursday’s game went to fourteen innings before a Ramiro Pena walk provided the game’s first and only run. Scranton had five pitchers combine on the shutout of the Syracuse Chiefs, with Chase Whitley getting the win after 1.2 innings of work. Adam Warren had turned a masterful performance, with seven shutout innings on just three hits. The Yankees did struggle a bit last night, as they were 0-for-5 as a team with runners in scoring position, and they left 11 men on base over the course of the game.

AA: Trenton Thunder
Trenton scored early and often in their return from the Eastern League All-Star break as they held on to defeat New Britain 7-6 on Thursday night. David Adams turned in a 5-for-5 performance, raising his average to .320 on the season. Even more importantly, Adams brought home five runs on the day. Kevin Mahoney (3-for-5, 1 RBI) and J.R. Murphy (2-for-4, 2 RBI) also helped power the Thunder to victory. On the mound, Dellin Betances had one of his best outings of the season. His line (6.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER) may not necessarily look that great, but Betances threw 68% of his pitches for strikes and walked just one batter while striking out six. Danny Farquhar would record the final five outs for his third save of the season.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa played two against St. Lucie on Thursday, winning both games. In the first game, Nik Turley got the start and went four innings for Tampa, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. Aaron Dott would relieve Turley and get the win for the Yankees. FSL All-Star Mark Montgomery would pitch a scoreless seventh to record his 13th save of the season. Zach Wilson and Kyle Roller powered the Tampa offense in the first game, bringing home three of Tampa’s four runs.

The nightcap was much more interesting to just about everyone. Jose Ramirez started for Tampa and threw six hitless innings before giving way to Branden Pinder, who finished out the team’s first no-hitter since 2007. Ramirez had struck out seven hitters prior to leaving, while walking just one. The only run of the ballgame was scored in the fifth inning, when Kyle Roller led off with a double. After the double, Roller would then score on a single by Anderson Feliz. Mason Williams had the only other hit for Tampa.

Class A: Charleston Riverdogs
Ben Gamel hit his second home run of the season to tie the game at one, and Robert Refsnyder produced his second professional RBI to lead the Riverdogs to victory 2-1 on Thursday night. Every member of the Riverdogs lineup, except for DH Rey Nunez, had one hit on the day, with only Gamel and Refsnyder having extra base hits. Brett Gerritse got his second win of the season, allowing just an unearned run on two hits in five innings of work. Nick Goody tossed the two hitless innings to record his second save of the year.
