Minors Wrap-Up: Tracy Terrific Again for Tampa

AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
D.J. Mitchell took the loss yesterday for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as the Yankees fell to Louisville 5-4. He struggled a bit with his command, allowing ten baserunners (six hits, four walks) through six innings of work. Mitchell also allowed all five Louisville runs. There was some good news on the mound though for the Yankees organization, as David Robertson made a rehab appearance with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, throwing just eleven pitches en route to a perfect seventh inning. Ronnier Mustelier went 2-for-4 on the day while hitting his sixth home run of the season. Russell Branyan, who had missed most of the season, hit his fifth home run of the season. Ramiro Pena also helped out offensively with a 2-for-2 performance on the evening.

AA: Trenton Thunder

It took ten innings, but the Thunder pulled it out yesterday against Binghamton by a score of 3-2. Brett Marshall was on the hill yesterday for Trenton, and looked like an ace over the course of six innings. Marshall allowed just one run on four hits, but more impressively, struck out eight Mets hitters on just eighty pitches. Melky Mesa, Shane Brown, and Yadil Mujica each had multi-hit games. Brown played the role of hero in the 10th with an RBI single to left field which scored Zoilo Almonte and Mesa, giving Trenton the win in walk-off fashion.

High-A: Tampa Yankees

I’ve taken notice of Tampa SP Matt Tracy of late, who has been absolutely lights out through six starts with Tampa this season. Yesterday was no different in an “off” day for the 23 year old, where he went seven innings to earn the win. On the day, Tracy allowed four runs (though only two were earned) on five hits while striking out four. After he finished up, Tom Kahnle came on and tossed two scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season. Ramon Flores and Anderson Feliz, hitting first and second in the lineup yesterday, stole the show offensively. Flores was 2-for-4 on the day, with a home run, a pair of RBI, and three runs scored. Feliz is now hitting .333 on the season after a 3-for-4 day that included a double and a run scored.
