Steve Pearce had a June 1st out in his contract which allowed him to leave if another team would add him to their active roster. As it turns out, the Orioles wanted Pearce, so he’s gone.
Pearce, 29, was hitting .321 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI for the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Prior to signing with the Yankees in the offseason, Pearce spent five years with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he was a career .232 hitter.
