This is the third Eastern League championship in franchise history. With this win, the Thunder set a franchise record of six straight playoff wins.

In the third inning, the Thunder were trailing but outfielder Mason Williams got it started with a single. A wild pitch would plate the first run for the Thunder. Catcher Gary Sanchez, outfielder Tyler Austin and first baseman Kyle Roller would supply offense. A single by Sanchez scored one, a triple by Austin scored one and a double by Roller scored another. One more run would come on a bases loaded walk and when the inning had ended, the lead was 5-1 for Trenton.

In the fifth inning, shortstop Ali Castillo would go deep for a two-run home run. Jose Pirela would get in on the fun with a home run to lead off the eighth inning.

Shane Greene pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits but got the win. Pat Venditte, Zach Nuding and Branden Pinder provided support out of the bullpen. Pinder allowed an unearned run.

With championship in hand, the Thunder put together an all-around offensive effort. With 16 hits, every starter got at least one hit. All starters but designated hitter Ben Gamel brought in a run. Ramon Flores was the only one to not come around to touch home but he did have a three-hit night.

Congratulations to the Trenton Thunder on their championship!
