The 30-year-old has thrown flat ground and off of a mound as well, although not throwing many pitches during each stint as he is working his arm back to full strength. Miller throwing a bullpen is a good sign for the Yankees as they hope he can return before the All-Star break which begins July 13th.
After the bullpen session for the lefty closer, it is unsure what will be the next move in his rehab. He may require more bullpen sessions, or pitch in a minor leauge rehab assignment. The club has not confirmed what the plans are going forward after his bullpen session Saturday.
Before the dominating closer was injured, Miller was a perfect 17-17 in save opportunities in 26 appearances that included a 1.03 ERA. Dellin Betances has filled in nicely for Miller as he has seven saves with a 1.13 ERA. But having Miller back in the fold will only strengthen the Yankees ‘pen and will give the team their dominant duo back to close out games.
