Astros admit Yankee Stadium crowd is “no joke”

After falling in a 0-2 hole to the Astros in the ALCS, the Yankees came back to the Bronx for games three through five hoping their home turf would provide a spark. Much to Houston’s surprise, not only did Yankee Stadium provide a spark, but it was loud. Very loud.

“New York is no joke. Yankee Stadium is a tough place to play,” Dallas Keuchel told the media following the game, just 24 hours after saying he “fully expected” to receive an onslaught of boos and jeers from fans in the Bronx.

“It was rocking these three games,” Keuchel said. “That’s why it’s so hard to win on the road in the playoffs.”

The Stadium was rocking as nearly 50,000 Bronx faithful made their presence known through the three games.

“I never heard anything as loud as it was yesterday when Gary hit that double. Loudest I’ve ever been a part of,” said Carlos Correa. “It was crazy.”

The Yankees have yet to lose at home this postseason, moving to a perfect 6-0 with Wednesday’s victory.

“This is a wild place to play,” said George Springer.

Luis Severino will be looking to send the Yankees to their first Fall Classic since 2009 as he faces Justin Verlander in game six at Minute Maid Park Friday. First pitch is around 8:08 PM on FS1.
