BREAKING: Tanaka out with hamstring injury

More injury news has surfaced in the Yankees clubhouse as starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka has a Grade 1 hamstring strain.

The Yankees ace said he felt his right hamstring grab while running to first base in the game Friday. This is a major blow to New York who is in the middle of a pennant race and head to the division leading Toronto Blue Jays’ starting Monday.

Tanaka was scheduled to make the start on Wednesday but instead will be replaced in the rotation by Ivan Nova. The Yankees ace is 12-7 with a 3.38 earned run average.

The Bombers will now look to Nova to bounce back after struggling all season to get back to his old self. Nova went 6-8 with a 5.11 earned run average in 14 starts this season. He was removed from the rotation in favor of Adam Warren.

The hope is that he will only miss one start. Keep to Bronx Pinstripes for all the latest Yankees news and injury updates.
