Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge nominated for Rawlings Gold Glove Award

After the Yankees announced they were parting ways with former manager Joe Girardi, the fans decided they needed something to lift their spirits.

Luckily, Rawlings announced their nominees for the 2017 Gold Glove Awards, which distracted everyone from the inevitable managerial search. This year, two Yankees were nominated for the award; one is no stranger to being nominated, while the other earned his first nomination in his first season.

Outfielders Brett Gardner (LF) and Aaron Judge (RF) have a chance to take home hardware for their defensive seasons. Gardner will compete against Kansas City Royals’ outfielder Alex Gordon and Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Justin Upton. Judge will compete against Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Kole Calhoun and Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts.

Gardner finished the season with a 7.1 UZR, 0 errors and 10 assists, while Judge finished the season with a 6.1 UZR, 5 errors and 5 assists.  In addition to his successful season in left field, Gardner was the only player in Major League Baseball without an error.

The winners for the Rawlings Gold Glove will be announced in late November.
