Carlos Beltran sidelined with knee soreness

Carlos Beltran was held out of Tuesday’s lineup with left knee soreness, according to manager Joe Girardi. Aaron Hicks will get the start in right field against the Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa instead.

Beltran first experienced soreness when he woke up this morning, and said he believes there might be fluid in the knee. Regardless, he’s not scheduled to undergo any tests at this time, and hopes to be available on Wednesday.

Beltran, 39, has been the Yankees’ best hitter so far this season. He’s hitting .277/.313/.554 with 16 homers and 44 RBI in 62 games. The Yankees can ill afford to lose Beltran for an extended period of time so expect them to be cautious here, especially with no DH safety net at Coors Field.
