CC Sabathia to appear on Good Morning America

New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia will make an appearance on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America,’ marking the first time that the left-handed pitcher will speak publicly since he left the team to enter himself into an alcohol rehabilitation center.

On October 4, just two days before the Yankees were set to take on the Houston Astros in the American League Wild Card Game, the team announced the shocking news about Sabathia’s alcohol issue. After the team returned from a weekend-long trip from Baltimore, Sabathia felt he had to enter himself into the rehabilitation facility right away, as he was afraid of what might have happened if he waited any longer.

Although he was supposed to be on the team’s postseason roster, the Yankees were very supportive of his situation, encouraging him to handle his off the field business before worrying about baseball. In 29 starts this season, the 35-year-old struggled, posting a 6-10 record with a 4.73 ERA. Sabathia was better in his last four starts of the season, and was expected to be a reliever for the team if the team would have advanced in the playoffs.

Sabathia recently completed a nearly month-long stay at an alcohol rehabilitation facility in Connecticut, and was recently spotted in his hometown of Alpine, New Jersey. Now that he has completed this rehab program, it appears as if Sabathia is ready to speak about the situation, as him and his wife Amber sat down with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts for an interview.

If you want to hear the interview, tune into ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on Friday, November 6. A specific time has not been set for playing of the interview, but the Bronx Pinstripes team will pass along any information we receive before the interview is aired.
