Cervelli has setback

Francisco Cervelli suffered a setback on his road to returning to the Bronx, according to Andy McCullough of the Newark Star Ledger.

Cervelli experienced a stress reaction in his right elbow and will be shut down indefinitely. He was close to beginning a rehab assignment and was projected to be back some time just after the All-Star break. This will obviously slow him down and put him on track for an August return. Cervelli’s been out since April with a fractured hand.

The Yankees may want to consider other catching options, since Cervelli will be out longer than expected. Chris Stewart has done a nice job filling in, but Austin Romine has almost become an automatic out at the plate, hitting .145 with two RBIs in 62 at-bats.
