David Adams officially promoted

The New York Yankees have found their new third baseman.

David Adams, who turns 26 today, has officially been promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre according to a tweet by the Trentonian’s Josh Norris. Adams has produced a .316/.407/.490 batting line, and hit three home runs in 27 games with the RailRiders this season.

Adams had been released earlier this offseason, losing his 40-man roster spot to make room for Vernon Wells. He was re-signed three days later to a minor-league deal, which prohibited him from being promoted until May 15.

Though no corresponding move has been announced, multiple sources have told me they expect infielder Chris Nelson to be designated for assignment.
