Ellsbury won’t return Friday

It looks like Yankees fans finally have an answer as to what is going on with Jacoby Ellsbury… for now. Some were hopeful that the outfielder would return tomorrow against the Rays, but Brian Cashman has made it clear that Ellsbury is still getting acclimated to baseball. He’s probably rusty after injuring his knee on May 19th, and hasn’t appeared in a lot of rehab assignments yet either.

The best part of this news is that Cashman said that Ellsbury is fine, and has not re-aggravated his knee. Many were panicking when the news broke that Ellsbury was taken out of the lineup for Single-A Tampa, but it appears that the Yankees are just taking it slow with him for now. Ellsbury has made it clear that he wants to be back now, and he would probably be back in a Yankees uniform if it were up to him.
