Nathan Eovaldi was first thought to miss the rest of the season when he was diagnosed with elbow inflammation on September 7th, but he will be reevaluated in a few days to see if a return is possible for the postseason. The team is hoping the hard-throwing right hander can start a throwing program soon after his reevaluation. There are no additional tests or MRI’s scheduled as the team was not comfortable with him starting a throwing program after yesterday’s physical.

The flame-throwing 25-year-old was acquired this previous offseason in a deal that sent over utility man Martin Prado. The Yankees liked what they saw from Eovaldi, and his progression throughout the season has been a positive sign for the intimidating pitcher.
Before his injury, the 6′ 2″ starter was 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA. His win percentage of 82 percent before the injury was tops in the majors. The Yankees hope he is able to make a return before the playoffs to put the rotation back at full strength as they look to make a deep playoff run.
