Yankees outright Rogers off roster

After an 11-3 loss Friday night to the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees have announced that Esmil Rogers has been outrighted off the roster. This means that Rogers can either accept an assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or become a free agent.

Rogers appeared in 18 games this season for the Yankees before he was outrighted. He pitched two innings in Friday’s loss vs. the Orioles and allowed four runs (one earned), five hits, and struck out two.

On the season, Rogers threw 33 innings allowing a total of 23 earned runs, going 1-1 with a 6.27 ERA. He was claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays last summer.

In his career, Rogers owns an ERA of 5.60 with a 19-22 record in his seven big leauge seasons. He has struck out 384 batters during his time with four Major Leauge ball clubs. The Yankees will announce a roster move tomorrow to replace Rogers.
