Girardi hopes to have Gardner back Friday

Brett Gardner will be out until at least Friday according to Joe Girardi. After being hit on the wrist last night, Gardner was taken out of the game. The X-Rays came back negative on his wrist and Girardi is hopeful he can play this weekend against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Yankees have a day off Thursday before heading to Tampa Bay to play the Rays. Girardi has not ruled out the possibility of pinch running Gardner or having him come in late in the game as a defensive replacement.

Gardner has been one of the Yankees most productive hitter so far this season. He has a slash line of .261/.393/.435 with one home run. Chris Young will take his place in the lineup. Young has seen success at the plate this season. Young is hitting .357 with two home runs in six games.
