Granderson eyeing early May return

Curtis Granderson is well on his way towards returning to the Yankees, according to beat writer Bryan Hoch. The 32-year old outfielder has been cleared for on-field batting practice after taking 15 swings in the cage on Wednesday.

If Granderson can complete the BP sessions without any problems, he will likely go down to Florida and play in some extended Spring Training games. After that, Granderson would go on a short rehab assignment.

Should he have no setbacks, expect Granderson back in the Bronx in about two weeks from now. Mark Teixeira, who is still not ready to advance the rehab on his injured wrist, will probably be back in mid-to-late May.

When Granderson comes back, it will be interesting to see what manager Joe Girardi does with the outfield alignment if Vernon Wells continues to hit.
