Mark Teixeira resumes workouts

Mark Teixeira‘s broken leg appears to be a thing of the past, according to the Brian Lewis of the NY Post. Teix has even resumed his workouts, claiming the shin is feeling 100 percent.

โ€œIโ€™m working out full-speed. I donโ€™t start running until January, anyway, but we donโ€™t expect thatโ€™s going to be an issue at all. Iโ€™m doing full workouts, so nothing really changed,” Teix told Lewis.

This is great news for the Yankees, who saw their offense dip when Teix went down after fouling a pitch off his leg. Rookie Greg Bird filled in nicely, but the Yankees missed a potent switch-hitting threat along with Gold Glove defense.

Teixiera hit .255/.357/.548 with 31 homers and 79 RBI in just 392 at-bats – his best season since 2011. While injuries have always been a problem for Teix, the Yankees hope he can come back next year and continue his success from 2015.

Teixeira will be entering the final year of his contract next season.
