McCann will get an MRI in New York on Thursday. This injury might be retroactive from the May 24 game against Texas. McCann left that game with cramping in his right foot and calf areas. However, the Yankees catcher was able to play the next day.
It will be a tough blow for the Yankees if McCann is sidelined for a long period of time. His bat has really picked up of late where he had a streak of five games with a home run. But with a day off Thursday the Yankees are optimistic McCann will return for the weekend.
John Ryan Murphy will resume catching duties until McCann can come back. If he is put on the disabled list look for Austin Romine to be called up as his replacement.
