An interesting development came about on Wednesday afternoon, as ESPN’s Jayson Stark reported that one MLB executive thinks the New York Yankees will definitely trade Andrew Miller at some point this offseason.

If the Yankees do in fact move Miller, the executive thinks the Yankees will be able to acquire a big package in return, similar to what the San Diego Padres got for Craig Kimbrel. If a deal is agreed upon, the Yankees could obtain a package built around big-league ready starters.
With his stock at an all-time high, it might not be a bad idea for the Yankees to trade Miller. In a weak free agent market for relievers, the Yankees could benefit from trading Miller, who is still very much in his prime and has three years remaining on his contract.
For a team looking for a closer or a late-inning reliever, Miller could be a perfect fit. In his first season in pinstripes, Miller was named the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year, as he posted a 2.04 ERA and 36 saves in 60 appearances.
This is definitely something to keep an eye on, especially as the offseason moves closer to the Winter Meetings. With the Yankees looking for creative ways to improve for 2016 and beyond, don’t be surprised to see Miller traded this offseason, as it’s very possible if the team gets the package they are ultimately searching for.
