Walker is a veteran second baseman coming off a year in which he hit .265 with 49 RBIs in 111 games for the Mets and Brewers.
It is a surprising move, especially after the recent acquisition of Brandon Drury. The Yankees front office appears to be leaning towards giving youngsters Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres more time to develop. What this means for someone like Tyler Wade, who has been competing for the second base job this spring, will remain to be seen.
