The Yankees have made the Aroldis Chapman signing official. To make room on the 40-man roster for the flamethrower, RHP Nick Goody has been designated for assignment.

Although he managed a 10.6 K/9 ratio, Goody racked up a 4.66 ERA and gave up seven long balls across 29 frames in 2016.
Chapman signed a 5-year, $86 million contract last week which includes: a player opt-out after 2019, a full no-trade clause for the first three years, and then a limited no-trade which states he can’t be dealt to any California team or Seattle without his consent.
A news conference to announce the deal will be held Friday at 11 am ET.
