UPDATE: The Yankees have called up Austin Romine, put Brian McCann on the 7-day concussion list.

Yankees still dealing with injuries, but they seem to pile up at the worst possible times. Mark Teixeira is still only at 50% according to Meredith Marakovits. The stitches in his pinky are not the issue, it’s a sore joint in that finger. He is having a hard time gripping the bat, but is taking some light swings in the cage today with Kevin Long according to Chad Jennings, that’s about it. He will continue to get treatment and will go from there. He doesn’t think this will require a stint on the disabled list, but the Yankees can’t afford to have a short bench right now.

That brings us to Brian McCann, who was pulled from the game last night with what was being called a mild concussion. He is seeing a neurologist today and will have to pass the concussion tests. If not he will have to be put on the 7-day DL. If that happens the Yankees could call up Austin Romine, who is playing pretty well right now. Obviously both McCann and Tex are not in the lineup today.

Finally Michael Pineda pitched another solid rehab outing in Scranton last night. He allowed just one run, struck out seven and allowed six hits over 4.1 innings and threw 72 pitches. Manager Joe Girardi said last night they will evaluate things and make a decision on what to do with Pineda in the next couple of days.  He spoke last night after his outing and said he feels 100% and is ready to pitch for the Yankees “I feel ready. I feel good. Everything I’m throwing is good. I’m happy right now.” said Pineda. He will head back to the Bronx today according to Donnie Collins, where a decision could come very soon.
