The Yankees have announced that Ivan Nova has been activated from the disabled list, according to Erik Boland of Newsday. Dellin Betances will be sent down to make room on the roster.
Nova has been sidelined since April 26 with right-triceps inflammation. Through four starts on the season, he’s 1-1 with a 6.48 ERA. David Phelps slid into the rotation to replace Nova and has pitched very well – 2-2, 3.83. It’s unclear what Nova’s role will be with the team now, as he is listed as one of the relievers for tonight’s game against the Rays. Phelps has earned more starts in the rotation, so for now, Nova may see action as a long-man out of the pen.
