Report: Samardzija has $100M offer from mystery team

With Jordan Zimmermann and David Price off the board, the free agent dominos are expected to fall as the market begins to take shape. According to Jeff Samardzija‘s representatives, the 30-year-old righty already has a $100M offer on the table.

The Yankees have been linked to Samardzija since the season ended, mainly because Yankees executive Jim Hendry drafted the dual-sport star outย of Notre Dame when he was the GM of the Cubs back in 2006. The Yankees also love the potential Samardzija has, along with the fact that he’s thrown 200-plus innings in each of the last three seasons. However, the Yanks aren’t expected to dish out any $100M contracts anytime soon.

Samardzija took a step back in 2015, going 11-13 with a 4.96 ERA. Many around baseball expected him to sign for somewhere around five years at $80M. The fact that he has a nine-figure contract offer already shows how attractive he is on the open market.
