Report: Yankees to call up Dustin Fowler

Another day, another Baby Bomber call-up.

Just a day after Yankees’ rookie Miguel Andujar made his Major League debut, another Baby Bomber is making his way to Chicago. According to multiple reports, the Yankees have called up outfielder Dustin Fowler from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

The move comes after the Yankees hinted that Tyler Austin could return to the disabled list with recurring hamstring issues. Austin is expected to get an MRI later today. News of Fowler’s potential call-up started circulating when the (healthy) outfielder wasn’t listed in the starting lineup for the RailRiders on Wednesday night.

Fowler has had the best first-half among all Yankees prospects this season, hitting .293/.329/.542 with 13 homers and 43 RBI in 70 games. Fowler also leads the team with 39 extra-base hits.

The Yankees are expected to officially announce the move later today.
