Yankees option Miguel Andujar to Triple-A

Just a day after making his Major League debut, the ‘Miguel Andujar era’ with the Yankees is over…for now.

Earlier today, the Yankees had 26 players listed on the lineup card which indicated they were planning on making a move. Following batting practice, the Yankees announced Andujar was sent to Triple-A.

Andujar notched three hits during his Major League debut on Wednesday night but not even that was enough to keep the third baseman on the roster. Joe Girardi indicated he wanted Andujar to play third base every day, which wouldn’t have been possible with Chase Headley on the team.

While the Yankees sent Andujar to the minors, they did bring back a familiar face. Just one week after he was designated for assignment, the Yankees recalled Chris Carter from Triple-A. Carter was designated for assignment after he hit .204/.286/.383 with eight homers and 23 RBI in 57 games.
