Report: Yankees trade Tyler Webb to Brewers

Major League Baseball is buzzing about the Chicago White Sox trading Jose Quintana to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a plethora of prospects. However, in the midst of all that, Brian Cashman was in “ninja mode”, and decided to make a minor trade of his own.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported the Yankees traded LHP Tyler Webb to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for 1B Garrett Cooper:

With the Yankees sustaining a plethora of injuries at first base this season, it seems like the trade was made to add first base depth to the organization.

Cooper is currently dominating at the Triple-A level, hitting .366/.428/.652 with 17 homers and 82 RBI in 77 games with Colorado Springs.

In seven games with the Yankees this season, Webb gave up three earned runs and allowed four walks in six innings of work. He was later sent to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre where he went 3-1 with a 3.24 ERA in 33.1 innings.
