The long awaited call to the majors is over for second basemen Rob Refsnyder, as the Yankees are going to give one of their top prospects a chance at the major leauge level. The Yankees will promote the young prospect to join the club Saturday when the team takes on the Boston Red Sox.

Refsnyder, 24, has a slash line of .290/.387/.413 in Triple-A to go along with seven long ball and 37 runs batted in. The University of Arizona product has been climbing his way through the minor leagues since joining the Yankees in 2012, as he has moved quickly through the minors and now is expected to get a chance at the big leauge level.
During his last 15 games, Refsnyder is batting .408 and has the third best on-base percentage in the IL at .387.
Stephen Drew and Jose Pirela have taken the majority of the starts at second base, but neither have been as productive as the Yankees would have hoped with Drew hitting .181 with 12 homeruns. Pirela is hitting just .212 with one homer on the season in 66 at-bats.
Refsnyder has impressed in his time in the minor leagues as he also made the transition to second base before the season started. His .966 fielding percentage is much improved from the beginning of the season, committing just two errors since June 1st, showing he is capable of handling the second base duties as the season has moved on. He has also shown patience at the plate with 44 walks, and adding 17 doubles.
The wait for Refsnyder being called up is finally over Yankee fans, and now he has a chance to show he belongs in The Show. The Yankees youth movement has begun.
