Sanchez and Heathcott to join big league club

Gary Sanchez and Slade Heathcott, who are two promising prospects in the Yankees farm system, have been recalled from Triple-A and will join the big league club.

The 22-year-old Sanchez hit .295 with six homeruns and drove in 26 runs in 35 gamesΒ in Triple-A this season. The young catching prospect has shown more poise and confidence as he has moved up in the system, and with roster expansion and the Triple-A season over, it makes sense to give him a promotion to the big leagues.

Heathcott, 24, has played in the majors this season and was playing well before an injury sidelined him. Upon his return from the DL, he was sent back to the minors curtsey of the return of Jacoby Ellsbury. Heathcott was hitting .353 with one long ball in 17 at-bats and played a solid centerfield. In the minors this season, the lefty hit .267 with two homeruns.

Both Sanchez and Heathcott have been prospects the Yankees have been watching grown before their eyes in the system, and now both will have a chance to be on the club as they make a run for the postseason.
