UPDATE: No tests done on Teixeira, if any are needed they won’t be done till they get home on Monday. He’s likely to sit the rest of the series.

Well this didn’t take long, Yankees first-baseman Mark Teixeira left the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning with what is being reported as a strained right hamstring. The injury occurred as Tex was casually making a play on foul ball hit down the line. The replays showed Tex gripping the back of his right leg right after.

How bad is it? Well we won’t know till he’s examined after the game. Initially it didn’t look too bad, but Tex was visibly frustrated as Manager Joe Girardi quickly pulled him and was replaced by Kelly Johnson. If you remember back in the 2010 ALCS, Tex pulled the same hamstring running out of the box. We’ll keep you posted in the post game recap.
