Tyler Austin‘s return to the Bronx? Take Two!
After Austin was placed on the disabled list with a right hamstring bruise on June 29, many wondered when they’d see the first baseman back in the Yankees dugout. Well, Austin is making progress, and the next step in his return is rehab games.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported Austin will head to Scranton and begin a rehab assignment for the second time this season.
Tyler Austin heading for AAA and rehab assignment beginning tomorrow. Will he get another shot with #Yankees?
Austin only played four games with the Yankees after initially going on the disabled list with a fractured ankle on April 2nd. He was one of many to play first base for the Yankees this season, but with Chase Headley currently there, the Yankees might not call up Austin until September when the rosters expand to 40 men.
Still, it’s great to know one of the Baby Bombers is close to returning to game action.
