Where Yankees Aaron Judge, Starlin Castro stand in All-Star voting

The early All-Star voting results are in, and it looks like the world is enthralled by Aaron Judge.

The 25-year-old rookie outfielder trails only Angels’ outfielder Mike Trout in votes at the position, according to the first balloting update for the 2017 All-Star Game which was announced on Wednesday. While Trout — arguably baseball’s most talented player — will likely miss two months with a thumb injury, he still leads American League outfielders with 776,937 votes, while Judge — who leads all of baseball with 17 home runs — has garnered 730,438. Due to Trout’s injury, Judge has a greater chance of appearing in the AL’s starting lineup come July 11 at Marlins Park in Miami.

A few other Yankees are on the voting charts as well. Starlin Castro leads all AL second baseman with 516,268 votes, with Houston’s Jose Altuve trailing by just 536 votes less. Among third baseman, Chase Headley is ranked fifth (174,702) and Didi Gregorius is ranked fourth among shortstops (239,170). Gary Sanchez, who finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year voting last season, is also ranked fourth (267,683), and veteran Matt Holliday is placed third in the designated hitter race (276,855).

Further down the outfield list, Brett Gardner (192,288) and Jacoby Ellsbury (179,600) are ranked 11th and 12th, respectively.

Fans are eligible to vote on MLB.com through 11:59 p.m. on June 29, and the next AL voting update is scheduled for next Tuesday, June 6.Â
