Yankees Avoid Arbitration With Russell Martin

The Yankees and Russell Martin agreed to a one-year contract worth $7.5M with $100K in performance bonuses, tweets David Waldstein. Martin filed for $8.2M, while the Yanks offered $7M.

Martin, 28, signed a one-year deal worth $4M with the Yankees last offseason after being non-tendered by the Dodgers. He hit .237 with 18 homers and eight steals during his first year in pinstripes.

Martin is eligible for free agency after this coming season, and there’s been speculation that the Bombers could look to sign him to a multi-year contract.

The team’s only remaining unsigned arbitration-eligible player is Boone Logan.
