Prior to tonight’s series finale against the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees signed LHP Ryan Bollinger to a Major League contract and selected him to the 25-man roster from Double-A Trenton Thunder.

The move comes after the Yankees optioned RHP Giovanny Gallegos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following last night’s 6-4 loss. Gallegos tossed two innings prior to being sent down.

Bollinger made three starts for the Trenton Thunder this season, going 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA in 20 innings. However, he had trouble adjusting in his brief stint at Triple-A. In two starts for the RailRiders, The southpaw went 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in nine innings. Bollinger is the latest Yankee to participate in the Scranton Shuttle, following the footsteps of Gallegos, A.J. Cole, and David Hale.

He’s expected to be available out of the bullpen for the series finale.
