Yankees Injury Updates: Swisher and Gardner

Gardner and Swisher both are on pace to be back on the field later this week, and early next:

Brett Gardner (elbow) took swings in the cage Monday and did the same over the weekend. He’s now scheduled to take regular batting practice on Tuesday. Barring any setbacks, the speedy outfielder should return from the disabled list as soon as he’s eligible Thursday.

Girardi said Monday that Nick Swisher (hamstring) is likely to miss a week.  Swisher left Sunday’s game with a low-grade left hamstring strain. He isn’t expected back before next Tuesday, but the Yankees will attempt to get by without putting him on the disabled list. Raul Ibanez will make the start in right field Monday while Eduardo Nunez makes his first major league start in left.
