Yankees recall Giovanny Gallegos from Triple-A

Just a day after the Yankees optioned OF Clint Frazier to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the team announced they had recalled LHP Giovanny Gallegos as the corresponding move.

Gallegos was originally slated to join the team last Wednesday as the 26th man on the roster against the Washington Nationals. However, both games were rained out and Gallegos was promptly sent back to Triple-A. Gallegos has made three relief appearances for Scranton this season, pitching to a 6.75 ERA in four innings of work.

Frazier was initially called up as an extra bat for the series against the Nationals. Despite the two-game washout, he ended up traveling with the team to Kansas City. Frazier started Saturday’s game before he was sent down to the Minors on Sunday afternoon.
