Yankees roster moves: 8/12/15

Prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Indians, the Yankees have made some roster moves. Garrett Jones was designated for assignment and Branden Pinder was optioned to Scranton/Wilkes Barre; Chris Capuano and Nick Goody have been recalled from Triple-A.

Following last night’s marathon, the Yankees needed fresh arms in the bullpen, especially with an inconsistent CC Sabathia on the mound. Capuano was scheduled to start tonight for the Railriders, but instead will be the long-man out of the pen. Goody gives Girardi another right-handed relief option.

Jones, who was DFA’d when the Yankees acquired Dustin Ackley at the trade deadline, was re-signed when Ackley landed on the DL. He hasn’t gotten an at-bat during his short second stint with the team.

Pinder went 0-2 with a 3.12 ERA with the Yankees this season in 16 games. His two losses came over the past week when he served up a game winning home run to Jose Bautista at the Stadium last Friday, and when he gave up a walk-off single to Michael Brantley last night.
