Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez has been throwing from 120 feet and hitting in the cages, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
The 24-year-old has been out with a Grade 1 strain of a muslce behind his right biceps since April 10, and isn’t expected to return to the lineup until early to mid May. In five games this season, Sanchez has hit .150/.190/.300 in 20 at-bats, with a home run and two RBI.
In Sanchez’s absence, backup catcher Austin Romine has hit .324 with five RBI in 37 at-bats, while rookie Kyle Higashioka has been hitless in four games.Â
