Yankees sign Carlos Beltran

After months of rumors, speculation and hoping by Yankees fans the team announced that they have signed Outfielder Carlos Beltran to a 3 year $45 million deal.

The 36 year old eight time All Star is coming off of a .296/24/84/.339 World Series year with the Cardinals where he spent the past 2 seasons. Before that he was with the Giants (2011) Mets (2005-2011) Astros (2004) and Royals (1998-2004). His career line is .283/358/1327/.359 and batting lefty at Yankee Stadium will only help his numbers with that short right porch.

The Yankees were also looking at free agent outfielders Shin-Soo Choo and Nelson Cruz  but with a crowded outfield it is safe to say they are looking at them no longer. Beltran was the teams number 1 target while waiting for extension talks with Robinson Cano and Hiroki Kuroda. Beltran had made it known to those around him that the Yankees were his top choice, hoping to finally land himself in pinstripes after previous free agent flirtations during the past decade did not work out.

He will most likely see a lot of playing time at DH because of an aging body with bad knees. New Bronx Bomber Beltran.
