Bronx Bombers home run alert

Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. Firing the first salvo in the Subway Series, it was the Yankees topping the New York Mets, 6-1. The Yanks rode the big blue bomberoo and tanked three long balls against Jacob deGrom. Mark Teixeira thrashed two towering taters and Jacoby Ellsbury banged a bullet to right as well.

Teixeira blasted a pair of two-run shots, one in the first frame and the second coming in the third inning. Tex now has seven home runs on the early campaign. With 167 home runs as a Yankee, Teixeira is 23rd in franchise history, passing Bill “Moose” Skowron and Joe Pepitone and is now two behind Tony Lazzeri for 22nd. Additionally, Tex’s 370th career home run, ties him with Aramis Ramirez and Gil Hodges for 75th all-time. It was also Teixeira’s 17th multiple homer game with the Yanks, tying him with Jorge Posada for 12th in club history.

Ellsbury smoked his first of the year, a solo shot, in the third inning. It was Ellsbury’s 17th as a Yankee and the 82nd of his career.
