Derek Jeter: baseball legend, publisher, restaurateur? According the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Jeter wants to take his website concept further with the The Players’ Tribune Bar & Grill.
The Journal says that the restaurant would be located inside the Tampa International Airport. He will be competing with other restaurants such as Chili’s and Bonefish Grill in a bid for new concession space.
According to the bid obtained by The Journal; the restaurant will be 3,439 square feet and offers fans: “come beyond the velvet rope to enjoy the VIP atmosphere. Not a sports bar. A sports lounge.” One confirmed menu item, The Jeter Burger. There will also be some cross promotion with his site. iPads will be provided to diners so they can read stories from The Players Tribune.
It isn’t a sure thing yet considering the other restaurants bidding for the space, but when’s the last time Jeter backed down from competition?
Sorry guys, looks like it won’t be Derek Jeter’s Taco Hole.
