Congratulations to Carlos Beltran on being BronxPinstripes.com Man of the Week for 2nd week of the 2014 season. Beltran was one of the biggest pick-up for the Yankees during free agency in the offseason, landing a 3-year, $45 million contract with the Yankees in early December 2013. Once the signing was official, there was a lot of uncertainty in Yankees Universe as to whether or not the signing of an aging outfielder would be beneficial or not. Beltran thrived in St. Louis, with the occasional injury taking him out of the lineup. Yankee fans weren’t sure what kind of Beltran they would get in 2014.

While the 1st week of his 2014 season started off slowly, Carlos Beltran went on a tear in the 2nd week by batting .423, with 4 doubles, and 3 home runs. He scored 7 runs himself, while driving in 6. The highlight of his week was a clutch 2-run home run in the Yankees 3-2 victory of the Red Sox on April 13th which helped the team win the 4-game series 3-1, and push the team over the .500 mark. We obviously know what type of player Beltran can be, and pending any injuries, I expect he will have a huge season in The Bronx. Yankees fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief this week, knowing that Beltran has finally broken out.
