The Yankees lost the second game of the series to the Red Sox yesterday and the Rays won again, so the Yanks are now 3 games back of Tampa. However, on the semi-bright side, the Rays and Rangers are tied for the first Wild Card spot and the two teams clash next week in Tampa for 4 games. So, don’t count out the Yankees yet. Here are how the teams in contention fared yesterday:

Rangers: 1-0 loss vs A’s. Bartolo Colon out-duels Yu Darvish.

Rays: 7-0 win vs Twins. Rays shut out Twins for the second consecutive game.

Indians: 8-1 win vs White Sox. Ubaldo Jimenez is dominant again for the Indians.

Yankees: 5-1 loss vs Red Sox. Jon Lester shuts down Yankees.

Orioles: 4-3 loss vs Blue Jays. Chris Tillman pitches complete game in loss.

Royals: 1-0 win vs Tigers. Eric Hosmer’s RBI triple in the first inning proves to be enough support for Ervin Santana.
