Playoff Push: Yanks stay within 2.5 games of Rays

Last night, the Yankees scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th to win 6-4 and look to sweep the White Sox tonight with CC Sabathia on the mound. With the win, they stay 2.5 games back of the Rays, who also won last night, and leapfrog the Orioles again, who lost in Cleveland. Here are how the teams in contention fared last night

A’s: 5-1 loss vs Rangers. A’s go 1-9 with RISP as they fall 1 game behind division-leading Rangers.

Rays: 7-1 win vs Angels. Matt Moore returns for Rays in win; allows 0 earned runs in 5.1 innings.

Yankees: 6-4 win vs White Sox. Yankees score 5 runs in the 8th to steal a victory. 

Orioles: 4-3 loss vs Indians. 9th inning rally comes up short.

Indians: 4-3 win vs Orioles. Ubaldo Jimenez throws 6 shutout innings in route to victory.

Royals: 4-3 win vs Mariners. Salvador Perez goes 3-4 and drives in 2 runs in win.
