Ramiro Pena’s stint with the Yankees this season lasted just four plate appearances after 3B Alex Rodriguez went down. Next thing he knew, Casey McGehee was acquired for an expendable relief pitcher, and the 27 year-old was on the way out, designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
A career .233 hitter, Pena had just one hit on the season with the Yankees. He had hit .249 with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, and is likely headed back to AAA if no one picks him up on waivers.
