Still A Yankees City, Momentum, & Mustaches – The Bronx Pinstripes Show #11

Brett Gardner has started a mustache trend in the clubhouse, and it seems to be working. Since sweeping the Rays last weekend the Yanks have won 5 of 7, including series wins over the Tigers and Mets.

There is a lot of good news — Tanaka had 2 lights-out starts, Teixeira is hitting for power again, and the Betances/Miller combination is LETHAL. Michael Pineda’s stuff is nasty and has emerged as the Yankees most consistent starter.

Even though there’s a lot to be optimistic about, we still found some stuff to pick at. Scott got on ARod a bit in this episode, and he conveniently went beast mode Sunday night vs the Mets. Sabathia is still not fielding his position, Beltran can’t hit, and the Yankees base running is ugly. Scott and I also complain about the second base position (warning: we are going to beat this issue to death all season long).

And last but not least, Bernie Williams officially retired this week after 9 years of being out of baseball. We reminisce about Bernie and the good ‘ol days.
