Yankees infielder Eduardo Nunez was hit on the right hand by a pitch in today’s Grapefruit League exhibition against the Phillies. Nunez was sent for precautionary X-rays in Tampa this afternoon, which the results came back negative.
Nunez was batting in the fifth inning against Philly right-hander Austin Hyatt when he was hit by an inside fastball. Nunez was immediately removed from the game and replaced by Ramiro Pena.
The Yankees are calling the injury a right-hand contusion. Nunez is hoping that he doesn’t have to miss more than a couple of days.
