Yankees Avoid Arbitration with Three More Players

After giving Ivan Nova a one year deal, the Yankees have avoided arbitration with three more players. Michael Pineda, Nathan Eovaldi and David Carpenter all got one year deals. Pineda will get $2.1 million, Eovaldi $3.3 million and Carpenter $1.3 million.

Pineda was excellent in the first month of the season going 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA before being suspended for using pine tar. He missed 87 games due to a shoulder injury sustained while suspended. He came back and finished the yearΒ 5-5, with a 1.89 ERA. The Yankees hope he can be as dominant in 2015, but due to his history of injury, it’s a gamble.

Eovaldi and Carpenter were projected to earn $3.3 and $1.1 million respectively in 2015, so the Yankees gave them a bit of a raise.
