Yankees Question of the Day – October 1, 2012

As the Yankees prepare to finish off the 2012 regular season with a home series against their rival Boston Red Sox, Derek Jeter is just 6 hits shy of tying his career season high of 219, which was set in 1999. Entering tonight ballgame sitting at 213 hits, do you think Jeter will end the season:

  1. Just short of his career season high of 219
  2. Tied with his career season high of 219
  3. Breaking his season high mark of 219

I have been a lifelong Yankee fan ever since my father took me to my first game when I was a child. We had seats in the first row, right next to the Yankees dugout. From that moment, I was hooked. I am constantly chatting about the Yankees on Twitter, so please follow me and join in the conversation (@brian_capozzi).

Considering who he will be hitting against in this series he will set a new record. The Red Sox starting rotation has their highest ERA since 1934. (78 years lol )

You are correct, the Red Sox pitching staff has been weak all season, though I don’t know if I see Jeter getting 2 hits per night during the series. I think he is going to fall just short, but put up a good fight.

Jeter should win MVP but base ball will snub him again

Jeter has had a REMARKABLE season! You are right though, he will
probably get snubbed since he is competing against players like Miguel
Cabrera who is leading the American League in all the main offensive
categories. Will be tough for him to win against that. He will get some
votes though. While I would love to see him win an MVP award, I am
completely content with knowing that regardless, he will be a 1st ballot
      Hall of Famer.
